Why wide screens cut off the top and bottom and leave black space why cant the widescreen cover the full space
I know the reason why because nothing is cut off and etc. but why cant they make it so that the picture covers the full screen without steching, zooming or cutting part of the picture .

It has to do with aspect ratio. A normal TV has an aspect ratio of 4:3. This means for every 4 measures wide, it is 3 tall. Widescreen has a ratio of 15:9. Because this does not divide into 4:3, you are left with the black bars. If you tried to make it fit the other way, it would cut out some of the picture.
