Can anyone help me on these Excel 2007 questions?
I am TERRIABLE at Excel 2007 and I don't know why I didn't think of coming to Yahoo Answers in the past..,. but maybe this is my last hope for some help.
I am using Microsoft Office 2007 Second Course Beskeen and the crew book.
On Excel page 125.., I am working on the Independent Challenge 1. I am stuck on f and all the way down. F states:
In cell F7, enter a formula using the names range invoice_date and the name cell current_date that calculates the invoice age by subtacting the invoice date from the current date.
What the heck does this even mean??? My guess would be =invoice_date(current_date)+(something)-(something). I have no idea. Can someone help me?

since its asking for the current date
i think its
=TODAY()-invoice_date
then you have to format the cell as a number, and that should give you the number of days between the invoice date and todays date.
if you have a cell already "Name"d current_date
then it seems you should jsut use
=current_date-invoice_date
Ship Cargo Calculations
CARGO CALCULATIONS FOR SHIPS
CARGOD is an excel spreadsheet programme that incorporates the stability requirements whilst loading a vessel for general, oil, bulk cargoes.
It has been made mandatory by the IMO, that specified programs suited to the particular vessel are put on board to calculate the residual stability after loading a vessel or when in a damaged condition.
The basic requirements are a computer with a windows operating system, microsoft office and the stability data of a vessel including sample loading conditions.
Requirements in CARGOD are the input of factual data (in red) and the relevant stability criteria for the loaded/ballast condition.
Differences between this program and the one supplied to a vessel as required by law, is the portability and dependency of any ship in the sense that parameters can be constanly changed.
A great boon to Officers particularly those engaged on multimodal vessels.The relative cost(software) is cheap ($200) when compared to the dedicated systems of stability on ships.
It has been used to advantage when studying for the DOT (UK) exams.
Further more it has a simple means of deducing cargo loaded by the time tested draft survey method or the weights deducted method.
The author and producer of the software has been in the merchant navy for over three decades sailing with varied international companies and crew. During his tenure at sea changes were being brought about to the navigation systems (eg. GPS, ARPA, AIS) that challenged the enterprenial talent within. Hence was born the software and the navigational programs (Sights, Rescue, Inventories, Accounts) relevant to the present and future industry of shipping.
