would 54mbps be fast enough to play halo 3 online without having horrible lag?
would 54mbps be fast enough to play halo 3 online without having horrible lag?
I am planning on buying a wireless usb internet adapter
CNet CWD-854 Wireless-G 54Mbps USB Adapter
but I don't know if 54Mbps is a good speed to play games online
No, thanks to either of you that answered (btw they were horrible answers) I now know that the speed from the usb wifi adapter is as fast as microsofts official xbox 360 wifi adapter.
Please, vote "No, best answer"
It is not the sped of the wireless connection that will be an issue but I seriously would recommend that you do not use USB but an ethernet cable. USB bandwidth is very limited. Another issue with the router is that although it says 54MBs yo will not actually achieve that performance. It is gong to depend on how far the router is from the device you are connecting to it with (Laptop), the wireless card in the laptop, how many walls are between the laptop and the router, what the walls are made of and how many other devices might interfere with the signal (cordless phone)
The quality of the game will depend on the quality of your internet connection and the lag (called Ping rate). A high ping rate will make the game unplayable.
If I had a choice, I would choose a wireless N router 802.11n and not the one you have selected, just to be on the safe side. If you did buy the Wireless G router from somewhere like best buy, you could try it out and take it back if it did not work.
