cpu chip replacement?
i was needed to replace my power pack and to get it out i had to take of the pcu fan, now i'm no expert so i didn't realize that the cpu chip was attached so when i went to put it back on all the little needles don't line up, i took my PC to a shop who instructed me what i should have done, now there telling me that i need a new chip which is around £30 and i will need a new motherboard as well, can someone tell me if they are correct or will a new intel P4 chip to replace the original intel P4 chip can be put back on without a motherboard re-placement
Just re-line the pins- so they are straight. Which P4 is it because $40ish sounds pretty high.

I have had this problem before and have found that if I replace the fan with another, the rpm in the BIOS is fine. Or disable the CPU FAN speed in the BIOS and the error will go away.
