Why does my laptop's AC/DC adapter get so hot?
If I plug it in for an hour it gets really warm. If I leave it plugged in for more than and hour and a half or so, it gets burning hot! Is this normal? BTW: It's made by Delta Electronics, Inc. for an Acer TravelMate 2420 laptop. Whenever I can, I plug in my laptop when I'm using it. Should I not do this?
yes, the ac/dc adapter usually gets really hot. The adapter doesnt have too much of a cooling system for it so it will naturally get hot. I've never had one give me problems due to heat damage though so I would imagine it is fine. The reason it is getting hot though is because it is converting a lot of energy to provide for a source that only uses a certain amount a time so...you get heat. Just be sure that it is out in the open and no where that it can conduct more heat.
