Which subwoofer should i get?
I'm putting a subwoofer system in my silverado ext cab and im not sure what i should put in it. I have been bouncing between two 10" subs or two 12" subs, the only reason im doing that is because of the prices otherwise i would go for the 12's. Is their really any noticable difference in two 10's versus two 12's? The subs are going into a sealed enclosure for sure. And does anyone know of a good brand or sub that gives deep bass but doesnt bust my wallet? (and if you could tell me an amplifier to go with em that would be appreciated to)
Honestly, the box is more important than the woofer. You can have the best sub with the best amp in a crappy box and still sound like crap. In sealed enclosures, deep bass comes from big enclosures. most sub manuals will have a range in cubic feet. ex 0.75 cubic feet to 4 cubic feet. Smaller boxes give you tight bass, bigger boxes give you sq.
As far as subwoofers go, Kicker is pretty good. The kicker CVR 10's and 12's sound great. Anything Orion is good. I run one kicker cvr12 is my hatchback focus in the spl/ported box that the manual recommends 2.25 cubic feet + port dimensions. almost 3 cubic feet. Sounds great.
The biggest thing you need to take into consideration is how much space you are willing to use for the subs. Pay attention to the cubic feet of the box. Make sure it is between the range that the subwoofers manual calls for. On amps, just try to match the RMS of the subs to the RMS of the amp. If you have two 400 watt rms subs, a 400 watt rms amp will work. But beware, if it is not CEA-2006 compliant, they are most likely lying about the wattage. Most cheap brands are not CEA-2006 compliant.
