And how far the Range extender should be from the router?

the linksys site will have this info, but normally 100-300 feet for router. but you can modify the firmware and bump the range 10x (DD-WRT firmware...free)
Solarwinds Extends Orion Product Family To Include Storage And Virtualization Management
