How do I secure my linksys?
I currently have an unsecured connection to linksys. I consider myself computer illiterate but am aware that I can either block people from accessing my connection or I can set up a personal password. I do not have a wireless connection, its through an ethernet cable. Only genuine and mature responses please. Thanks!!!
If your entire usage is through an Ethernet cable, you're safe. Still, it might be worthwhile to make sure the router isn't doing wireless even though you're not using it that way.
My Linksys WRT54G has a single option that turns wireless on or off. It's in the router Web-based administration pages here:
1. Go to the Wireless page in the admin pages.
2. Set the Wireless Network Mode list box to Disabled.
3. Click Save Settings.
There's a set of more complicated actions to take to secure a wireless network, but you don't need them now.
