Can you put a HDD Drive in a Floppy Drive Bay?
I'm thinking of building a computer of my own and was wondering if I can fit a HDD in a Floppy Drive Bay.
Not to big on paying the price for labor that it would cost to make it yourself and sometimes have a better computer...
P.S. is 2GB low if I want to go with Vista? and what all isn't compatible?
The only difference between a floppy drive bay and a hard drive bay is the floppy has a open slot so you can put a disk in the drive from the outside of the case. Both the floppy and hard drives take 3.5 inch bays. All the other drives (DVD-CD-ROM) take 5.25 inch bays. I don't blame you for wanting to build your own computer, in fact, I would recommend it to anyone. But it does take some research and planning to build a system that will not only perform the way you want it too, but how you build the computer will determine if you really enjoy your new computer, or if you are nothing but frustrated with it. Take the time to do some research to make sure you go into this well armed with information so you can get the most out of the computer parts you buy. If you are going to install Vista, 2GB of memory should be considered the minimum. Any less and the computer will not perform well. As far as compatibility issues, I have noticed none and I run office suite programs and games on my Vista machine. I expect that those having problems with Vista are having them because they do not know how to operate a computer, or are trying to run Vista on computer that was intended for Windows XP. No computer that runs Windows XP is suitable for Vista, in most cases. Actually, Vista is far superior to Windows XP in many ways and I would recommend the operating system to anyone that has a computer that can run it. Good luck with your new build.
