If You Don't Feel Like Writing Try Something Different
The world is full of fodder for the grist mill. However, even the most dedicated scribe needs to walk away from pen, pad, and keyboard and try something different; something they've not done in a while or may have never done.
Try writing poetry today. Listen to your inner voice and channel that voice into poetic musings. You may want to consider a poetry reading at a local library, college, bookstore, or café, all of which are entertaining, heartwarming and a great way to meet other writers. So, jot down a few random thoughts today and tweak them into some poetic prose; it will give you a sense of renewal.
Treat yourself to a deluxe box of Crayola crayons with all the different colors. I picked up a box at the Dollar Store. Along with the crayons, pick up a pad of drawing paper (also one dollar) and create your own works of art. It would be fun to add text to the drawings. See how creative you can be. Let yourself go!
I had a blast last week doing some crazy, off the wall Crayola drawings (I'm not an artist) and added some captions to the drawings. They are a hoot! It was a real stress reliever and put me back into the writing groove.
This week I'm going to a poetry reading at Earthtone's cafe. I haven't done that since my "hippy" days in the 60's. That should bring back some fond memories and raucous laughter.
Try something different just to get a new lease on life. I need to do that once in a while to keep from getting grumpy.
