Which performs better: a single G4 @ 933 MHz or a dual G4 @ 800 MHz?
This is for the Mac gurus out there. Whether from personal experience or factual head knowledge, which of the two processors performs better (generally or on certain tasks). This seems pretty silly, but I'm curious because I'm planning to upgrade a Power Mac Quicksilver to a cheap dual processor. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

This is actually a loaded question. The answer depends on the type of user you are and the programs that you use. A single, faster cpu will perform much better if you are only running one program. However, there is a catch; some programs, especially newer ones, are made to take advantage of multi-core computers. These programs will perform much better on a slower, dual core compared to a faster single core cpu.
If you are a multi-tasker that likes to have more than one program running at a time, dual core is the way to go. Programmers are starting to develop software that utilizes multiple cores and multi-core cpus are the new standard. Because of this, a dual core solution would be your better investment whether or not you are a multi-tasker.
@DavidDallos: Dual-core is the short way of saying dual processing cores. By saying the computer is a dual-core computer, you are describing a computer as having two processors. Again, I recommend going with the dual G4 @ 800mhz. This computer has more longevity than the single G4.
