How can I tell if my Hard Drive is SATA?
I'm looking into getting a backup HD port, so I can save the files off my hard drive before I re-install/repair Windows....the item I'm looking at is for SATA and eSATA, and I'm not sure if my H.D. fits into those categories. I looked at the HD, and didn't see any SATA lettering anywhere. Clues?

How to Remove Error Message in Windows Vista
A user installs new software or hardware (peripherals) to add extra features and functionality to his system. In some cases, a user has to restart the system after software (like drivers) or hardware installation. However, a user can encounter a STOP error message after system restart. With the occurrence of STOP error, the boot process gets halted. In other words, our data files in the system become inaccessible post operating system crash. In such situations, the user needs to recover and restore lost data from most recent backup. But, if the user has not created any backup of the lost data or the backup is not up-to-date, he should use effective Data Recovery Software to recover lost data.
Consider a practical scenario, where a user has inserted a storage device into the card bus adaptor that is connected to a Windows Vista system. The storage device can be a Secure Digital (SD) memory card, a Compact Flash (CF) memory card or an external SATA (eSATA) hard drive, which is running in SATA Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI) mode. The user encounters the below STOP error message, when he starts the computer system:
“STOP: 0x00000050 (parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4)
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA”
Cause:
The primary reason for the occurrence of this error message is mismatch of the resource requirements of the installed devices with those requested by the BIOS of the computer system. In such situations, a rebalance of AHCI registers occurs that results in above error message.
Resolution:
To resolve the above problem and access the data stored, the user needs to follow the following steps:
- Disable or remove any new installed hardware or software from the computer system. To do so, the user needs to go into the Safe Mode. To enter the Safe Mode, the user needs to restart the system and press F8. After pressing the F8 key, the user will see Windows Advanced Options screen with Safe Mode as the first option.
- Disable the BIOS memory options including caching and shadowing.
- Resolve the above issue by hotfix solution recommended by Microsoft.
But, if the user encounters the same error message even after following the above measures, he needs to opt for Data Recovery Software. To do so, the user needs to use advanced third party utilities.
