How do you set up High speed USB?
I am trying to set up high speed usb on my computer. I recently re-installed Windows XP on my computer after I formatted it. I already installed Service Pack 2.
High speed USB (USB 2.0) on your computer depends on the capability of the motherboard. Newer motherboards come with USB 2.0, but old ones may have been made when the standard was USB 1.0.
If the motherboard was made maybe over 6 or 7 years ago, and came with USB 1.0, then its USB ports cannot work at high speed.
However, it is possible to add USB 2.0 ports by adding a card to a PCI expansion slot. This is assuming your computer is a tower/desktop and not a laptop. For a laptop built with USB 1.0, you can add USB 2.0 ports with an add on PC Card slot or ExpressCard slot.
