will the files be deleted now?
ok i used frost wire to Dl some adult videos and sevreal of the videos were not only unuseable but undeletable.
i could not delete them by...
sleecting and pressing the delete key,
right clicking brought up every option but delete,
eraser would not select the video
file shredder would say the name was in valid
even spy bots file shredder said the name was invalid.
i have tried to move them to the desktop and the recyclebin but they will not move..
nothing seems to have worked.
this morning though i got up used windows file search option, found the files and decided to try some thing. i moved the file containng all the videos to the recyclebin. i then did a search again and the search did not come up with any of the videos that were in the file.
so if i tell the computer to empety recycle bin, will they finally be gone and able to be written over?
I would think if it is in the recycle bin, then it'll delete fine.
Here is what likely happened.
You downloaded something that said it was a video, but was actually a different type of file.
Your video player tried to open it, but since the files weren't really videos, the player couldn't open them and it crashed.
Now when you tried to delete them, your computer thinks the video player is still using them, and it won't allow you to delete them.
You could just look at the Task Manager and close the crashed program. That should free up the file for deletion.
Sometimes, it's not that simple, because you don't know what program is using the file. There is this great freeware app called Who Lock Me. It'll install right onto your Context menu (right-click menu) and you can see what program is using the file.
