My Keyboard and mouse both stopped working? When I plug in a usb mouse to the computer it works?
I have an HP computer and its always been great but a few days ago the mouse and the keyboard stopped working. I plugged in the usb mouse from my laptop and it works? Does anyone have any idea what it might be and how to fix it? Ive never had this happen before ever with any of my computers and Ive always bought HP and Compaq.
By chance have you recently installed, upgraded, or uninstalled any CD/DVD burning software? This can cause a registry error that knocks out the upper and lower registry values for the keyboard and mouse.
USB Mouse Drivers Problems - Fix Your USB Mouse Driver Errors
USB mouse driver Problems can be difficult to pin down and resolve. USB mouse Driver Robot should simply work... And when they do not, they don't seem to want to start working again. I can try to guide you thru resolving this determined issue.
But if at the end of this article you're still having Problems, I'll point you to a solution that may work every time.
Before you do anything else, turn your PC off utterly. Let it stay off for roughly a minute, then turn it back on. I know you may be rolling your eyes at this primary step, but I can tell you that years of Help Desk work proved this fixed more Problems than any other fix out there.
Now some real work. You need to remove and then re-install your USB mouse drivers.
to do this, right-click on'My Computer' in Windows XP or earlier or'Computer' on Windows Vista or Windows seven. In Windows XP or earlier, select Properties from the drop down menu then in the window that opens decide on the Device chief tab. In Windows Vista or Windows 7, select Properties then select Device manager from the menu on the left side of the screen.
in the Device chief select Mouse or other pointing device. By choosing, I mean expand the small and. Then right push the existing drivers there and select de-install. Confirm any prompts.
Then reboot. When Windows restarts, the hardware magician will launch and attempt to reinstall a USB mouse driver. Let it do its thing this time. Hopefully this may resolve the issue.
If it does not yet work, then do everything I just described again and reboot again. But this time, rather than letting the Wizard select and install your driver for you, push the button to locate the driver by hand. After you click this button, navigate to the C:WindowsINF folder. Once this folder is selected, click OK.
If this still doesn't fix the issue, the right INF file won't be in your INF folder or the file may be corrupted. The simplest way to decide this at that point is to find another PC with the same Operating System.
On that computer, navigate to C:WindowsINF and copy all the contents of that directory or folder. Place those on disk or USB drive and transfer them to your computer.
On your PC, first make a backup of the INF folder and create a revive point. Then copy the contents from the other PC's INF folder into yours, but don't let it overwrite the majority of your files. You may have to click'No' many times to stop it from overwriting any files. The only file you need to let it overwrite is any INF file with the word'mouse' in it.
Now repeat the steps I described before... De-install your USB mouse Driver Robot from the Device Manager and reboot.
If after all this it still does not work, you're going to need to bring in the gigantic guns : you want Driver Robot.
