I think Engineer there probably has done a good job of confusing you. ALL laptops and I don't mean SOME, I mean ALL come with 802.11b/g cards. Even if it had "n" in it it would be backwards compatible with b/g so you're fine. Just get an 802.11b/g router like this D-Link, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833127143 and it's only $16. (Note: DSL or Cable only, these routers do not work with dial-up connections but hardly any of them do).
